Events Diary
For outdoor events please wear suitable footwear and
clothing. Practical tasks start at 10am and usually finish around 4pm, unless
otherwise stated, so bring a packed lunch. All tools are provided. For further

Saturday 17th
- Rushall Manor Farm, Bradfield - GPS for Veteran Trees Course - 9:30am
A day school
to examine the advantages and pitfalls of using GPS
for positioning Ancient and Veteran Trees. Theory in the morning with practical
recording in the afternoon. Course fee £5. Bring a packed lunch, drinks
provided. Outdoor boots and clothing essential. Places are limited so booking is

Make

with West Berks Youth Services
Saturday 4.00 pm - 6.00 pm - Sunday 10.00 am - 12.00 pm
Find
out all about newts and how to find them! We will set traps on Saturday evening
and see what we’ve caught on Sunday morning. Please call the office (0118 930

Sunday 25th - Ashampstead - Walk in an Ancient Landscape - 11:00am
Join Dick Greenaway in exploring
the landscape, wildlife and history of Ashampstead Parish. About 6 miles with
two modest hills. Starting from Childs Court Farm (Grid ref:
SU 575 751). Bring
a packed lunch. Well behaved dogs welcome.
Tuesday 27th - Paices Wood - Bonfire bash! - 10.00am
A day
of burning the brash left over from all those task days when it rained too much!
There will be plenty of tasty bonfire treats. As this task may be postponed if
the weather is bad, please call the office (0118 930 5336) to register your
interest and we will let you know if this happens.

Rushall Manor Farm, Bradfield - Bluebell Weekend - 11.00am – 6.00pm
Come and enjoy the bluebells, wood anemones, primroses and violets.
Self-guided walks and refreshments are available. A donation of £5.00 per adult
and £2.00 per child is invited in aid of Multiple Sclerosis.
Tuesday 4th
- Victory Room, Bucklebury - Friends AGM - 7.30pm – 9.30pm
The AGM of the Friends, followed by a talk by Dr
Edward Hewitt from the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. Any items for the

Saturday 8th
- Englefield Estate & North Street - Afternoon walk with Ray Clayton - 2:00pm
Join Ray Clayton for this 3-4 mile afternoon walk
which includes some of the permitted paths on the Englefield Estate. We start
alongside the deer park, returning through the small hamlet of North Street.
Quite open country, so bring a drink and wear a hat if it is hot weather. No
dogs please. Meet in the car park behind Englefield Estate Office, Englefield

Tuesday 11th - Paices Wood - Drab, Grizzled and Dingy Walk - 1.00 pm
A walk around Paices Wood in
search of some of it’s flying residents. Meet at
Paices Wood car park, which is accessed
through Youngs Industrial Estate.
Saturday 22nd
- Paices Wood - Reptile Safari - 10.00 am
A chance to see some of the country parkland’s reptilian

Sunday 23rd
– Lambourn - Stones and Horses RIGS Walk – 11.00 am
A
joint 'Friends' and Berkshire Geoconservation (RIGS) walk to look at the
geology, history and wildlife around Lambourn. Racehorses will feature strongly!
Meet Lesley Dunlop and Dick Greenaway at Lambourn church (Grid ref:

326 790) and bring a packed lunch. There is an optional short cut
home on this walk avoiding one of the two steep hills. Walk lengths 5
miles (ish) or 3.5 miles.

opportunity for a close up look at some of the creatures living in the wildlife
pond at the Hosehill Lake reserve. Drop in anytime between 11am and 1pm.

Spend the day clearing invasive Himalayan Balsam at Kings Copse to help maintain
